Activities at Lost valley Ranch
Can anyone tell me what activities Lost Valley has for kids under 12? We're going to Lost Valley in a few months and I'd love to have a plan. Thanks!

Are you coming during the summer? If so, we have a full kids' program for ages 12 and under, and a teen program, too. Of course, the kids will be horseback riding quite a bit, but they also tube down Goose Creek, have a pool party one afternoon, and participate in the kids' rodeo at the end of the week. We have great plans for the whole family, too, with a square dance, cookout and bonfire, and a melodrama! Call the ranch if you have any other specific questions.

The best thing to do would be not to have a plan to do anything on certain days and just play it by ear. I have come as a kid many years and the kids program is awsome!

That's the best part of the ranch: YOU don't have to plan anything, if you don't want to... just release the youngin's to their kiddie sups and collect your exhausted, happy kids at the end of the day! Or you can keep them with you to hang around the ranch... your choice : )
The other good part is, the kids are separated by age group, so you don't have to worry about a 12 year old being bored by something more appropriate for a first grader. When I was a child at Lost Valley, there was one kiddie sup and one wrangler per group, and both would join the kids on the rides. Great supervision.

This is Chuck Cory. I was a wrangler at Lost Valley many years ago and it's still the same old Lost Valley, which is GOOD! There are so much for kids under 12 to do. First of all, the Kids' wranglers are the best! They know all the spots kids like to go and activities that are fun and safe. You can relax knowing that your kids' safety is their top priority.
Of course, if you're there in the summer the swimming pool is a favorite for kids. Also, the Trading Post where they can get ice cream, etc.
Going down to the coral and watching the wranglers is always a favorite. Watching the horses as their saddled up for the day can be exciting, too!
Lost Valley is truly a family resort and there are always a lot of kids around your kids can get to know and play with. Goose Creek can be a fun place to explore (with supervision). They can go fishing, wade in the shallows or just take a family hike through the North pasture next to the creek.
When you arrive, get to know some of the staff. They're absolutely the BEST! They know what kids like to do and will give you a lot of suggestions.
I hope you have a wonderful visit to Lost Valley. And when your kids grow up, they will return and bring their kids to experience the same magic that they experienced when they came to the ranch.
I'll always remember something a guest once said after staying at Lost Valley. He said it to the Bob Foster, Sr. who originally started the ranch. He said, "Bob, what I have created is recreation. What you created at Lost Valley Ranch is re-creation." The name of the person that said this was Walt Disney.

Oh my...there's not enough cyberspace to list all the great activities for the under 12 set! If you are going to visit in the months of June, July and August, there are fantastic planned activities such as tubing down the creek, scavanger hunts, all day rides to the swimming hole along with the regular trail rides for 6-12 year olds that are all supervised by the most outstanding Collegiete Staff ever! In other months, there are trail rides and staff involvement for all the kids, as well. In addition, there's the heated swimming pool, the sand volleyball courts, the tennis and basketball courts, great fishing in Goose Creek or the Pond Meadow, (the kitchen staff will cook the the fish for the next meal and bring it to the Dining Room with a wonderful presentation to the proud owner of the catch!) games in the Ranch House with new friends, helping in the corral with the wonderful wrangler staff, square dances for all ages, and so much more. You won't have any trouble getting the kids to sleep at night after a day at Lost Valley and you'll be amazed how quickly they get up each morning to run to the Lodge for a fantastic breakfast! We have visited with my children since they were babies and they are now 16, 14, and 12, and Lost Valley is their absolute favorite place on earth!
