May I offer another symptom of LVWS: Back home, as the first snow melts off your boots, you lament the loss of the last remnants of "ranch dust" that had so poignantly decorated the seams.

LVWS

A new point to add to Lost Valley Withdrawal Syndrome:

Going to London (admittedly I was going anyway) and getting Standford’s Map Shop to print out the US Department of Interior, US Geographic Survey 1:2400 Cheesman Lake Quadrangle topographical map. It cost me £20 but is worth it. I got so excited I had to show the man in the shop a photo of where he was printing out – I don't think he was too impressed!

LOST VALLEY WITHDRAWAL SYNDROME (LVWS)

Dawn tells of her blues. I'm sure Lindy Colmer my good friend would not mind me posting this list she wrote - as you can see- a long time ago. It sums everything up.

Sunday 25th October

Last day, last rides, last blog! Dull but not too cold in the morning. Saw the beaver in the far beaver pond and another one just beyond the first cattle guard to the South. Three of us rode up High Ridge and then got round to Jessup Drive. A slight snow flurry around lunch time but in the afternoon it was just very fresh. Saw two elk – just Josh (S) and I. I rode Chisholm. Rainy caught some sort of varmint and carried it for ages. Quite a lot of snow set in after the ride. Looking forward to la… Continue

Saturday

The Melodrama was just as good as last week with a few new jokes. Saturday morning the beaver did not put in an appearance. The other day I collected feathers from a Flicker. Probably a red-shafted flicker as the shafts were red. It is a member of the woodpecker family. Saw a large kingfisher type bird too.
The day was sunny but windy. There are 55 guests so getting the rides out was complicated. I rode May and in the afternoon went in with the Progressive beginners and had a nice ride towards J… Continue

Well...that's probably because I still have no idea how to use this thing...which is going to be interesting since I'm kind of running it now...:) Sorry about that !

Can't wait to see you soon! Hope you're doing well!

Judith, happy you are home safely! Please do let Lindy know to add the problem of year-round dreaming of LV to the LVWS list. Spoke with Caroline today to see about returning to ranch when you are next there. Look out!

Dear Judith,

Thanks for looking after Tess - I have not heard anything of the Vet, so would think he thought she was OK. Poor dogs, I miss them all, but Jackson is a bit ' plump' = on a DIET. Tardee was also fine and Dakota, the little old dog. Have a wonderful last few days. Jx

Hi, Lorene has tried to get hold of Danah, but no luck. She talked to her friend Majail (sp) and I guess Danah is doing OK, but for some reason is not very responsive at this point.
We will be at the ranch Oct. 23-Nov 5
