A Foal!

Have you ever heard the theory that every time there's a weather change or a full moon, the maternity wings in most hospitals mysteriously fill up? Well, the theory became fact for us on Sunday night when,
after a huge front blew in, our first foal of the season decided to show his
face. Our little colt is healthy, and at this moment frolicking
playfully in the round pen under the watchful eye of his proud mama, Brown Mare
(creative, I know…).
Sometimes, I get the impression that she’s rolling her eyes and shaking
her head at his playfulness. He likes to
just take off running around the pen, tail straight up in the air, long, gangly
legs flying out in every direction. He
definitely cannot be called graceful quite yet, but he sure is cute! We’re
very excited to finally have a colt after a round of all fillies last spring,
and are anxiously awaiting the next baby!

In other news, we also just celebrated Will Warnock’s birthday last week. This baby has now grown into a sweet two year old little boy. I can’t believe he was
just a few weeks old when I first came to the Ranch! Time sure does fly by. We had a John Deere cookout on the front lawn
and invited all the guests to come help us celebrate. Will enjoyed his party very much and has been
seen pulling his new John Deere wagon around the ranch.

We’ve started seriously getting ready for summer around here! Three of our new staff have already arrived with more following closely on their heels.
This is always an interesting time of transition for staff, saying
goodbye to old friends while at the same time welcoming new staff and getting
excited for the large influx of summer guests. We’re looking forward to seeing
the ranch full of guests again!
