Our Brand of Western Hospitality

Wow. What a week! On Sunday, we packed up the suburbans and headed west to Steamboat Springs and Vista Verde Ranch for some fun in the snow. We had such a great time! Some of us spent one afternoon in a riding clinic with Terry Wegener which was a great opportunity to brush up on my riding skills and to spend an afternoon with Terry. For those of you who know him, you know we laughed a lot! The next afternoon, I joined a crew of 15 staff going back country skiing. Wow! I loved it! None of us are very proficient skiers, so there were some epic face plants along the three hour trip. Some of the others chose to go tubing, snow shoeing, or just sit in the beautiful lodge and read a book in front of the fire. We were all thankful for some R&R and a chance to grow closer as a staff.

We came back on Friday rested and ready to begin our first official weekend of the season. In February, we were facilitating groups, now in March we’ll start actually running our own programming and becoming more a part of the guests’ experiences, which is very exciting! The first weekend was full and lots of fun. We all enjoyed spending time with the families who came to enjoy a weekend away. Now, we’re hosting a group of high schoolers from Topeka Bible Church, who bring lots of life and enthusiasm to the Ranch. We have so much fun with them. Tomorrow I plan to go rappelling (abseiling) from Helen’s Rock with them! It’s good to be back in the swing of things and see life coming back into the ranch. We’re looking forward to a great rest of the season!
