Thursday

We went out to look for cows with Rainy and Milly. We rode to the Tarryall river and up to the end of the canyon till we could go no further. We saw two eagles – probably a bald eagle and a golden eagle soaring above. Peppy and Toby were very good and we had a good picnic in a beautiful spot. We did find two rucksacks, fishing rods and clothes out to dry but no sign of a person. We scouted around but no sign of cows either. We crossed the South Platte and did some pretty extreme mountaineering. Peppy nearly went head first into the river but recovered before I got a ducking. We rode home a different way. It was a glorious day and we came home tired but happy.
